Modern Staircase Designs For Your Beautiful Home

15 . 01 . 2018

Architecture has evolved significantly over the years – modern concepts are all about perfect design, comfort and simplicity. It is also about understanding the importance of each and every element of the home. Staircases are no longer just a few steps made from timber that join two floors of the home – they have instead become a piece of art. Today, we have taken the opportunity to show some amazing modern staircase designs:

  • Canterbury Project
It doesn’t get more modern than this. Featuring a central stringer with KDHW treads and handrail, this staircase has been painted black to give it an edgier, minimalist feel. The piece de resistance, however, would have to be the tread to ceiling wrought iron balusters that begin on the fourth tread up. Wall flush lights have been added for extra illumination.

  • Dactyl Project
This staircase features an open design to help the stairwell (as well as the hallway and upper landing) to feel bright and airy. Being able to see through the treads helps the spaces to feel more connected, as well as ensures that plenty of light can pass through. To top the flight off, it features a frameless glass balustrade and round stainless steel handrail.

  • Invermay Project
This custom steel staircase combines the airiness of open design on the lower flight and the privacy of closed design on the upper one. The bottom flight features a steel stringer with stained KDHW treads and the frameless glass balustrade (which doesn’t start until the first landing) extends to the ceiling. The stainless steel handrail finishes the look off.

  • Medley Project
If you’re looking for something a little different, this modern staircase design could be for you. The stringer extends about two thirds of the width of the treads, allowing for a glimpse of the space beyond. The pale treads and white stringer are nicely complemented by the frameless glass balustrade, whilst the lack of a handrail is inherently modern.

  • Palmerston Project
This custom feature staircase project oozes a modern feel. From the large platforms at the bottom of the flight to the detailed overhanging treads, everything about this design grabs your attention. The upper flight is open and features complementary balustrading, handrail and posts. It has all been finished off in a dark stain offset by the white risers.

  • Terama Project
This staircase features a closed design to help visually separate the lower and upper levels of the home. The blocky design of the stairs – from the no overhang nosing to the rectangle posts and handrail – give it a big and bold feeling that is ultra modern. The glass panel infill balustrading prevents the flight from feeling too closed off from the rest of the home.

If you are looking for ways to beautify your home, we hope that the modern staircase designs shared above have helped to inspire you. As you can see, we have worked on a number of projects over the years and have an in depth understanding of how to blend a staircase with the interior of any home. The design should be impeccable.
