Nosing

Range of Styles

Gowling Stairs is able to work with a variety of stair nosings that will frame the edge of each of your treads and make them obvious to those walking up and down (so that they don’t trip). Our styles include: pencil round, square and no overhang – each of which can be used with any staircase.

Decorative Feature

As well as performing the functional purpose of helping to prevent people from tripping as they walk up and down the stairs, nosing can form a decorative feature that takes your staircase from drab to fab. A range of materials can also be used to help achieve this, including timber and carpet.

Areas We Service

Gowling Stairs is able to provide nosing for all areas of Victoria. Some of the suburbs we service include: Balwyn, Glen Waverley, Doncaster, Camberwell, Hawthorn, Kew, Caulfield, Bentleigh, Brighton and Toorak.

Q1 – Do I have to have a nosing on my treads?

The nosing is the name given to the edge of the treads, which means that you will definitely have to have one for your project. If you want the nosing to be as unobtrusive as possible, the no overhang option will sit flush with the risers.

Q2 – Can I carpet over all nosing styles?

It is possible to lay carpet over all of our nosing styles, however, it is important to note that it will look better on some more than others. The no overhang and pencil round options tend to look the best with carpet.
