Timber Types

A perfect timber for every home

The success of your project relies on the selection of the perfect timber. That's why we stock a considerable range of timber species (a selection of these are pictured above). Whilst a number of species are suitable for use in the construction of timber stairs, they won’t all complement the design of your home. Our team can help you to select the best species for your new timber staircase.

We have a wide range of suitable woods for stairs, each of which has been selected for its aesthetic appeal and durability. We stock both light and dark species including Southern Blackbutt, Grey Ironbark, Brushbox, Tasmanian Oak, European Oak, Merbau, Jarrah, Tasmanian Blackwood, Messmate, Wormy Chestnut and Tallowood. If your home already has timber components, we can help you to match them to ensure that your hardwood stairs fit in perfectly.

We believe that timber is the most preferable choice when it comes to the construction of wood stairs – not only is it aesthetically pleasing and relatively durable, it’s also incredibly versatile (it can also be used in the construction of balustrades, handrails and posts for a completely cohesive look).

  • Wide range of timbers (from MDF to Spotted Gum)
  • Used across wooden steps (from risers to posts)
  • Can match timbers used elsewhere in the home
  • Durable & aesthetically pleasing wood stair treads
